This is good for the enviroment since the units do not contain lead and certain other hazardous chemicals. Since July 1, 2006, European countries in the European Union must require that various types of Electrical and Electronic components sold there be RoHS Compliant. We expect that this standard will soon be adoped in the USA. Some companies are already asking for the RoHS compliance certification. RoHS is often referred to as the lead-free directive, but it restricts the use of the following six substances:
